Elizabeth Wahyu

Elizabeth Wahyu was born March 20th , 1974 in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 1995 she graduated from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles California major in International Business with minor in Marketing. From 1995 – 1998 worked for the family business in trading and manufacturing field, emphasizing on general goods and chemicals.

Married in 1998 with Ricky Leon and move back to USA she learned and explore the art of polymer clay and other art & craft that she always passionate about. Until 2001 with one daughter, Emily B.Leon the family decided to go back to Jakarta, Indonesia. Back in Jakarta in 2001,Elizabeth had the idea to apply her expertise in Polymer clay by opening an art school. This is the dream job of a new mom, having flexible time and doing the things she loves and enjoy. The school flourish and in December 2001 just with a sudden urge Elizabeth wanted to learn about beads jewelry to add for the classes. Every time one product / sample is finished, it ended up sold to the students or customers. Orders also flows from word of mouth marketing, so Elizabeth improve her making jewelry not only to beads but with combination with polymer clay, swarovski crystals and pearls as well exposing to semi precious stones and other odd material to combine as accessories.

All techniques and designs are made by her and learned by book and experience only. She has no formal education in fashion / jewelry field.Since there’s no space to contained the products and customer, in October 2002 Elizabeth opened her first accessories boutique in Kemang, Jakarta and the company with the designers name started. Until April 2005, Elizabeth had maintained 6 other outlets including : one boutique in Mal Kelapa Gading III, in Metro Department stores ( Plaza Senayan and Pondok Indah ), Masari Boutique ( Plaza Indonesia & Plaza Senayan ) and Taman Anggrek Mall. Future outlet to be open on November 2005 is at Nicole Edwards Department Store, Jakarta and Bali. Until today Elizabeth has not join any competition Internationally, but her designs are valued by local media ( magazines and television ) by giving award as Inspiring woman of the year and featured in major fashion and lifestyle magazines regularly. International recognition was made from Swarovski, who invited Elizabeth Wahyu as one of the designers to join Spring / Summer Trend 2006 in Hong Kong Jewelry Exhibition in April 2005. Right now her goal is exploring to many different kind of materials, designs and market. Meanwhile, improving the quality product and strengthening her position in local and international market.
